Aina Mahal or “Hall of Mirrors” is the royal palace situated in the heart of the city i.e. near Hamirsar Lake in Bhuj city. The palace was built in the middle of the 18th century by Ramsinh Malam, a mast er craftsman. A key travel related information is given below.

Aina Mahal (Mirror Palace) is one of the oldest palaces in the state of Gujarat. It was built in the 18th century and located in Bhuj city. It was built by the Maharaja Rao Lakhpatiji in the year 1761. It was designed by Ram Singh Malam. The Palace was badly damaged in 2001 Gujarat Earthquake.

Ranjit Vilas Palace is situated on the hills of Wankaner town which is another beautiful location of the city. Ranjit vilas palace is famous for its beautiful architecture that is believed to be influenced by mughal, Victorian,gothic and dutch styles. The palace houses a watchtower located on a hill. The palace was designed and constructed by amar sinh ji to be a lookout over the wankaner town. The palace covers the area of 225acers, the palace houses a state guest house that is known as “chndra bhavan”.
It is the official residence of the Maharaja and his family members. It is also one of the popular destinations for Gujarati and Hindi film shooting. Generally, tourists are not allowed to visit the palace. Prior permission is required to enter in the palace.

Balaram Palace once the hunting retreat of the Lohani Nawab of Palanpur, is now a Heritage Classic hotel. It was built between 1922-1936 by the 29th ruler of Palanpur, His Highness Zubd-ul-Mulk Dewan Mahakhan Nawab Sir Taley Muhammad Khan Lohani. It is a graceful manifestation of neo-classical and baroque architectural style. Situated amidst the Aravallis in the 542 sq. kms of Balaram Ambaji Reserve Forest at the tip of North Gujarat it borders Rajasthan. The palace is set in 13 acres of terraced upland rising from a hilly stream and surrounded by lush green gardens and designed flower beds. The palace was visited by several dignitaries during the British Raj, including Lord Mountbatten.

A stay in the palace takes the tourist into the bygone Nawabi period to experience the real Nawabi ambience and architecture of northern Gujarat. The palatial huge rooms with antiques all around give a sense of royalty. The hunting point existed 3/4th of a century back. Everything around is picturesque and nature is at its best.
